HONOR AWARDS

On November 20, 2011 CHOICES4LIFE held an historical event. For the first time women were publicly honored for saving the life of their rape conceived babies. They went against society's death wish and even family who didn't want their child to live. These brave women never thought there would come a day when they would be rewarded and recognized as true heroes for their determination to bring forth life.

Their stories are different but all share an amazing love and pride for their children. The oldest child conceived in rape is 40 and the youngest is 3. Some were placed for adoption and others were raised by the mother. But all these mothers love their child (without any reservation) as much or more than any other mother.

At the Honor for Life Awards Gala each came forward to recieve an award and to share their heart. For some it was the first public acknowledgment of what happened.

Connie said she was leaving her shame right there in Houston, TX, never to pick it up again. She struggled many years even up to this day with shame. Shame does not belong to any of these mothers.

There are many more women hiding in the shadows in shame. It is my goal to help all women and their children understand that shame does NOT belong to them. Our society must hear their voices. The prejudice has to end.

Lately new movies are showing the reasoning for no exceptions for abortions. The 180 movie is great proof that most people don't even think about what they are saying when they agree with rape abortion. Rick Perry changed his mind after watching The Gift of Life and being confronted by Rebecca Kiessling, a rape conceived speaker and activist.

When faces are seen and acknowledged it becomes very difficult to deny the right to life. The battle is slowly being won as more and more of the rape conceived children and mothers come forward to say everyone deserves a chance to live.

Rape is not to be honored but the act of saving a life after such a horrible event is most definitely honorable. At the Honor for Life Awards Gala over 200 people gathered to cheer these mothers. Some came out of curiosity but whatever the reason they all left deeply touched and changed.

Some of the comments about the evening were:

"I thought it would be depressing but I felt God wanted me to go. Wow was I surprised. It was so uplifting... awesome." Dr. R. B.

"I especially liked hearing about the accomplishments of their children. What incredible stories
. I was really blown away. " Pastor Winston Hancock

"People felt the Holy Spirit. The women were delightful." Donna S.

"Joy is a choice we make. These women just shine...such an inspiration". Lana

"This is real...inspired me...it didn't touch me until I heard... very moving" Sandra

"Ladies were awesome... really like Kimberly. Gary Wood gave me cold chills... It was so organized." Amy

"These stories need to be told and I already shared one story and will continue sharing" Pastor Don Bergstrom

I want to thank Texas Right to Life for their support. Jim Graham, TRTL president was so helpful both financially and in offering his wisdom. He and so many others commented that this didn't look like a first time event. A list of people and companies truly made this event possible. Some of them are mentioned in the column to the right.

The event was completely paid for before it happened thanks to everyone who saw the great need and did something.

I am working on a video that will take away the myths about what mothers feel toward their children. It is my hope that society will no longer strive to kill the innocent child and wound the mother but see the value in every life regardless of conception. Let's stop rape not an unborn human life.

More pics and video to come.

This was the program cover.
Theme: Mother of Pearls.
Just as God works with oysters to create something beautiful from something unplanned, He works with mothers to create a beautiful life from the most horrible event.

All of the table decorations were done by a woman and many friends who rallied around to help. A miracle to say the least. Two weeks before the event I did not have decorations. A friend Leslie Carrol told Sherry Laughlin who then told Kari Hale. She felt led to take over all the table decorations and as you can see it was beautiful. Shells and oysters made completed the theme.

Stage designs were as miraculous. Max Carbo of Exodus 31 Designs also had less than two weeks to create his masterpiece.
